Väkevä is an art collective based in Helsinki, Finland. The group consists of dancers, musicians and stage designers who share a curiosity towards the possibilities of Finnish dance and music tradition in the context of contemporary stage. In their artistic work, the tradition is not seen as static, but as dynamic force of change, out of which new expressions may emerge. A Finnish word Väkevä means strong or powerful. It also has another meaning, referring to folk and people.
